“work out your target heart rate to burn more fat ”

The Target Heart Rate calculator provides your target heart rate (the beats per minute of your heart) that you should maintain to enable fat burning. The maximum is the number of beats your heart heart can beat per minute, safely, which normally goes down as we age.

To take your heart rate, put two fingers on your major pulse points - either your neck or the inner side of your wrist - this will allow you to measure your heart rate as you exercise to ensure you are working at a suitable heart rate to burn body fat.

An even more accurate recording of heart rate is a heart monitor. People with heart conditions that wish to exercise, should monitor their heart rate closely, in this way.

“Explanation of the Results”

To enable fat burning, aim to have your heart rate at about 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. At this rate, you should burn more more fat, and especially even more so, if you are on a calorie-controlled diet.

You should also calculate your body fat percentage together with your BMI (body mass index) to get a more realistic view of your weight, fat levels and fitness.

Always use this target heart rate calculator as a general guideline only. For a carefully planned diet to suit all your requirements, you should see a qualified dietician, who can provide this for you.
