Perricone diet - foods restricted / banned
Dr Perricone recommends that high-GI foods (especially fruits, grains and beans) should be severely limited if a person wants to lose weight and is following the diet specifically as a weight loss diet. In the Perricone Promise, he goes on to say that all the high-GI can be eaten, albeit in very small amounts, only after desired weight loss has been achieved. Dr Perricone does ban the humble potato at all times and does not recommend wheat to be eaten either, but advises that other grains can be used instead of wheat.
Dr Perricone's rule of thumb for foods to avoid - if the food contains flour and/or sugar (or any other sweetener) it will be pro-inflammatory and should be avoided.
