The Sugar Busters diet basics
The Sugar Busters! diet was released in 1998 and it was written by a former CEO and three physicians - a cardiovascular surgeon, a gastroenterologist and an endocrinologist (Dr Samuel Andrews, Dr Morrison Bethea, Dr Luis Balart, and H Leighton Steward, MSc).
The Sugar Busters! diet is a low carbohydrate, high protein diet based on eating low glycemic index foods. The main premise of this diet is to state that sugar and any product made with sugar is "toxic" to the body.
The Sugar Busters! diet does not include phases and is less restrictive and more flexible than other low carbohydrate, high protein diets (much like the Zone diet). One basic rule of the diet is that fruits should not be eaten in combination with meat dishes.
