The Zone diet - foods restricted / banned
The Zone diet is does not ban any foods from consumption - this diet simply limits their intake.
The following is the list of fats, protein, carbohydrates, mixed protein/carb foods that should be limited for a specific set of reasons.
The fats should be limited due to their high saturated nature, the proteins should be limited due to their high saturation of fat or high arachinoid acid content or both (all of which have an unhealthy impact on the heart and cardiovascular system) and the carbohydrates should be limited due to their high glycemic load and their unhealthy effect on insulin levels.
The following foods should be eaten on a restricted basis, due to their unhealthy effects on the body:
“Protein - Poor Choices (higher in saturated fat and arachinoid acid) ”
“Fat - Poor Choices (higher in saturated fat) ”
“High Density Carbohydrates - Poor Choices”
See the official Atkins Diet site for a full list of all the foods to be limited on this diet and the maximum amounts that can be eaten each day of each of the foods above, to ensure that the diet is being followed properly.
