- Sibutramine
People taking sibutramine for weight loss should not take tryptophan supplements at the same time, as this could increase the possibility of sibutramine-induced side effects. - SSRIs (anti-depressants)
People taking SSRI (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor) medications, which are a type of anti-depressant medications used to treat depressive and anxiety disorders should take tryptophan supplements at the same time, as this could increase the possibility of adverse side effects, such as an excessive build-up of serotonin in the brain. - Sumatriptan
